They say that cardinals are messengers from other worlds. In my case they appear often, and usually in flurried abundance. They swoop in front of me as I drive; they dart across my vision as I gaze toward our creek. They are moving and mystical and magical.
I approached the canvas wanting to capture not the birds themselves, but the frenetic energy with which they gather and criss cross the skies. They inspire me with their bright yellow beaks and button black eyes. There’s no mistaking that they are on a mission.
