Meet Chelsey Clark, a women’s counselor in Santa Barbara, California who decided to take action! After learning about the nomiNetwork, a woman-founded organization helping rescue women around the world who have been or are at risk of sex trafficking, Chelsey decided to join the effort right in her own hometown. That’s when her idea for Fashion For Freedom was born.
Chelsey says,“Fashion for Freedom came out of a deep conviction that all humanity has inalienable rights, and therefore, those of us with a voice, a talent, a resource are responsible for fighting for those rights on behalf of those who can’t fight for themselves. We support organizations like nomiNetwork that help empower women and girls in a way that brings value and dignity into their lives, bringing about restoration in every area.”
The first fundraiser for this growing organization started out as an idea for a backyard get together for friends and neighbors, but quickly grew into something her entire community has gotten behind.
“Fashion for Freedom is an opportunity for members of our local community to collaborate with others who have a similar passion to be a part of this renewal and change in the lives of these women and girls,” says Chelsey.
The inaugural event will be held on July 19, 2012 from 7-9 pm, at its sponsor Business First Bank’s location on Santa Barbra’s fashionable State Street. Thanks, Chelsey, for not just having an idea, but bringing it to life! We can’t wait to see the pictures and hear more about how we can help!
